Whirlwind Weekend

June 14th, 2005 | Filed under Family, Meal, Photos

While I was planning on making this a simple quick post over my lunch break from work…it has exploded in something a little larger in scope!

Not to much happened in terms of productivity this weekend, but it was exactly the kind of weekend I have been longing for throughout college.

Friday night was the annual summer BBQ for the girlfriend’s work. It was a pretty good time hanging out with her co-workers (and rumback considering his lady-friend works with the girlfriend). The owners of the shop she works at live about 10 miles southwest of Lawrence on an awesome piece of land…complete with a huge garden and a pond. Needless to say it was beautiful…and we forgot the camera.

While that was a blast the older folks from the office made it a short night considering we were home in Lawrence by 9 p.m. Which was fine by me considering we were able to finish up the third disc from Scrubs Season 1. Once again Netflix rocks…the next tv series in the mail is the West Wing. Who’s pumped for that one!?!?!

In preparation for the main event of the weekend the girlfriend and I went down to the Lawrence Farmer’s Market Saturday morning. Even though it was raining, the diehards kept it real (however, we are complete farmer’s market noobs) and we were able to pick up some radishes , as is displayed in the photo, as well as flowers for our lovely guests….MOMS!

Our mothers have been planning a pseudo-mothers weekend for a couple of months and finally made it up this past weekend. We had a great time enjoying the great meals of Lawrence (Vermont Street BBQ, FreeState, and Miltons) as well as a lovely walk around campus. .

Even though I spent 3 years at KU my mother never had a chance to check out the campus.

After the Moms left town in what turned out to be a torrential down pour the girlfriend and I decided to chill out with a good ol’ home-cooked meal.

The end result was a wonderful pasta dinner that I even got to take with me to work this morning.

All in all it was a pretty damn good weekend of chillin’ out and eating good. The cooking also reminded me how much fun it to hang out in the kitchen. To follow up the pasta fun we decided to make our own pizza tonight. It was awesome!

Anyway, not much else going on here. I’m scheduled to help record audio at a big music festival this weekend which should be pretty fun. The girlfriend’s heading out of town for a friend from high school’s wedding shower…which means it is going to be guys weekend! Yeah.

Just got the girlfriend stated on some blogs tonight so…expect some links from some of her stuff sometime soon as she turns me on to cool things I would otherwise ignore!

Be back later with some music and movie stuff…experienced some good ones this weekend.

kapp out
