Flash…

August 13th, 2005 | Filed under Rant

I hate flash based websites.

Today I was goofing around online when Mendenhall sent me an email…it was from his “I”m really cool, I work at an Agency” email address and I realized I hadn’t checked out their website in a long time.

Needless to say I clicked the link, entered the “flash” site when a dialogue box popped up. The box informed me that a script was running and that if it continued to do so it would slow down my computer (I believe it said “cripple” but I can’t be certain). I clicked to kill the script which allowed me into the actual “flashy” part of the site. However, the entire site including every link and page continuously flew by me. It was like watching Flight of the Navigator or something.

It was like the site was stuck in a loop and was displaying every single page on the site for about half-a-second and then it would skip onto the next one. Needless to say it sucked.

This is not to say that you can’t have a good site with some dynamic content…Apple’s student website is pretty good…but just don’t try to impress me with your (e)Lite flash programming skills. It’s annoying.
