Skywalking: The Life and Films of George Lucas

I finished up reading this book a while back, and have been in the middle of two or three others but I wanted to get something up on the site to fill this content. The book in an interesting read, although it is absolutely histarical in certain parts due to the fact that it was originally published in 1982 and subsequently all the things that George Lucas claimed in the book that he would never do…he did.
While I really did enjoy this book, as it gave a lot of insight into an individual that I often admire, it did romanticize many things in his life such as his relationship with his wife (they got a divorce some 6 months after the book was published) and his many companies. Repeatedly throughout the book the author makes a case that Lucas really wants nothign to do with the oversight of his many corperations such as Lucasfilm, Skywalker Sound, THX, Lucasarts, etc…To me this seem a little bit unplausable in that how can a man that has allowed this companies to define his later life not be invovled in them?
Anyway, it’s a good book but I wouldn’t pay street price for it. Pick it up at a used book store or email me and borrow it. That way I can put Delicious Library to good use.
