The Cool, Funky and Chaotic.

Found this link via Kottke today. It is a visualization of the Miles Davis song, All Blues from the best selling jazz album of all time Kind of Blue (Hilary, thanks again for giving me the album!).

Basically two information management students at UC Berkley got the bright idea to visually map out the solos of Miles, Cannonball, and Coltrane on the song and it is a pretty cool analysis of their musical stylings. While most jazz fans could use the same words to describe the greatness of the trio it is still really cool to experience it visually. Check it out here.

Needless to say, I’m a huge fan of this album considering I own four copies of it. One LP, one Double Sided CD and two CDs (the girlfriend replaced the copy HIlary had originally given me because I had worn it out!) I’ve been looking for an excuse to post this picture for months!
