Reach Out

So, Liz Phair has one upped Mr. Mayer in the Web 2.0 department. She is currently podcasting from her website, which includes full length songs from her live concerts, readings of original works of fiction, as well as random conversations she has with the band. Of course it includes plugs periodically for her new album that just came out, but would you expect anything less? I’m not the biggest Liz Phair fan in the world, I don’t even own an album of hers, but I do dig a couple of songs including California from the non-existant Chasing Amy soundtrack.
Update:Now that I have actually finished the second of her podcasts it has become aparent that the works of fiction aren’t all that great….but it’s worth the hassle of fast-forwarding in order to grab the live performances. If bands really wanted to reach out to fans they would ditch all the “cool” flash-based websites and start embracing blogging and podcasting. But, hey, that’s just me.
