There are few things in life that cannot be fixed by an evening of & via my Twitter feed.

I'm right, again!

November 19th, 2005 | Filed under Ideas

HA! Peter Rojas from Engadget just affirmed the idea, previously stated in this post, of giving away network television shows online with advertising in Podcast 052.

“Honestly, why don’t they just, they should be offering this stuff for free. Giving people a second chance to watch their content, you know, with commercials, if they have to, but it seems like the value proposition (of paying $.99 or $1.99 per show) is really weak.”
-Peter Rojas

While it might not be the greatest quote/soundbite ever, this is the second time today (here’s the first) an A-list blogger has agreed with something I’ve previously stated. I rule.

Update: Jim just made a great point in the comments. He basically said to make the ads so short that no one will bother wasting the time to take them out! Sounds like a challenge copywriters everywhere!

That would be great, but then people would just reencode the shows with the commercials hacked out, and the tv industry would complain again.

One thing I think would help, is if they made the commercial breaks too short for anyone to mess with it. Like if each break was only 15 seconds long, then a lot more people would just watch them.

Or we could switch to 100% in show advertising… That wouldn’t be so fun though.

And I hope the new Nintendo isn’t too ‘revolting’, but I think Xbox will be winning some more fans… that is until Metal Gear Solid 4 comes out!
