Barack Obama Podcast
Every time I hear something about this guy it makes me want to move to Illinois, just so I can vote for him. Dave Slusher had mentioned that Obama was podcasting back in october but I hadn’t checked it out until recently when I rediscovered the rss feed on iTunes. I checked out his (Obama’s) most recent podcast and it the most refreshing political talk I’ve heard in months. A podcast like this is the way, in my opinion, democracy should work and communicating with the electorate should work.
Every couple of weeks Obama records a brief (around 8 minutes) audio clip informing his constituency on what legislation he is working on, where he stands in regards to current issues, and how he feels about the current state of politics. He speaks in a very candid, stream of consciousness manner which I enjoy, however it gave the girlfriend the impression that he is a bad public speaker. Either way, the best part is…it doesn’t feel as if it is crafted by his pr-spin-doctors, it feels real and genuine. It might well have been created by his advisors but it feels so genuine and real that it gives me hope that american politics aren’t completely corrupt. Now if only he’d run for president in 2008.
p.s. Speaking of politics, the girlfriend and I are going to see Syriana this evening, so look for a new review later tonight/tomorrow.
