Know Your Cuts of Meat

February 16th, 2006 | Filed under Meal

Is it just me, or was (is?) “Know Your Cuts of Meat” the greatest part of Letterman? Being that I’ve spent my fair share of time behind a meat case back when I worked at Tucker’s Meats, I have come to love that game….and the fact that I always win. If I ever get a chance to play for real I’m so coming home with the super-awesome prize, which if you watch the show you know it usually ends up being popcorn. Oh well.

Anyway, kottke posted a link to today to a Washington Post article about choosing the best steaks. It completely reinforced everything I’ve been telling the girlfriend about when it comes to picking out meat, but she didn’t really seem to care. Go figure? So for all of you who might care here is my favorite quote out of the article:

“When they grade the beef carcass, it’s the rib-eye they look at to determine the quality of the meat. You won’t go wrong choosing a rib-eye.”-Bill Fuchs of Wagshal’s

So all you people who think that the filet is the best piece of meat check out the article. Oh yeah, thanks for all the comments about the parking ticket! I managed to get my 2 bucks dropped off this evening.

Until next time…courage.
