There are few things in life that cannot be fixed by an evening of @Boulevard_Beer @Gradoheadphones & @DukeEllington #fb # via my Twitter feed.
Everyone just calm down

As many of you know in addition to my video/sound editing responsibilities at work I’m also charged with providing tech support for all of the office macs and pcs. I thought this would be of interest to all of my fellow mac-heads that read the blog. I just got this wonderful explanation by Daring Fireball’s John Gruber about the current Safari/Mail vunerability. It is a really great read explaining exactly how you can avoid accidentially downloading a trojan and the details of the sneaky, but very clever, exploit.
Needless to say it is just a proof of concept, and as it stands there are no Mac virus/trojan/worms out there in the wild that can affect/infect your computer. Everyone just take a deep breath and continue computing.

I know, the people at work who ‘kinda use’ macs keep emailing posts and what not. Plus Sophos (the mandatory virus program for All computers at KU) updated their virus definitions to combat the sudden rise in Mac ‘viruses’, but apparently forgot to tests these updates so all they did was delete various files critical for certain programs to run.
The solution we had to tell people: You’re going to have to reinstall that program Sophos just deleted… sorry.
Luckily it got fixed with another update, but still, good job Sophos!
In other news… perhaps a media center on the 28th? maybe maybe? but probably not…
