Student Loans are Fun!

Student Loan consolidation is a hilarious enterprise. I’ve been in the process of consolidating all of my loans with nelnet and the process has gone, while very slowly, very smoothly. The only hang up as been Sallie Mae dragging their feet in signing my loan over to nelnet.

Today I got an email from them that reads as follows:

Dear Borrower,

I am writing to make you aware that we have received a letter verifying that you would like to consolidate your student loans with another lender.

Before consolidating your student loans with another lender, we would like to offer you a special enhanced benefit should you decide to consolidate your student loans with Sallie Mae®.

To learn more about this special enhanced benefit, please call us immediately at 1-800-XXX-XXXX. A five minute call could save you hundreds of dollars and our Concierge Service will complete the paperwork for you. All you have to do is sign!

I’m like 5 seconds from crossing the student loan consolidation finish line with nelnet…do you really think I want to start all over again with you!!??! Come on now Salllie, just give my bill to nelnet and be done with it. Oh yeah, thanks for the money freshman year….sorry you won’t be getting my interest!

Update: Well, I just got a phone call today from Sallie asking if I was really sure that I wanted to consolidate with another lender. Yes already! I’ve been trying to consolidate now for over 3 months and the entire time the hold up has been Sallie Mae and their “one more” thing emails and phone calls. Give up already. If I hadn’t already chosen another lender I would sure be looking for one now.

    Yeah, they have RSS feeds for Xanga’s but just don’t advertise them much. Here is what Blogera’s looks like:

    I think you can change after “user=” to whatever user you want and it should work
