Goodbye Kirby

I was just finishing up that last post and was going through my rss feeds one last time before I went to bed like I do any other night. As I was reading through the list I was stopped dead in my tracks as I read this headline on Kottke’s remaindered links.
Kirby Puckett dies at age 45
I can hear many of you saying right now, well, who is Kirby Puckett? Kirby is a guy who was able to bring together a Dad and his two sons on a Sunday afternoon to watch a baseball game. For me, he is one of the greatest things that I associate with my father and to see him retire at such a young age, and then to pass away so suddenly…it really makes me sad.
So, goodbye Kirby. Thanks for giving my family not only a source of entertainment as you and the Twins (our favorite team) battled to win the ’91 world series, but for giving a young kid and his father a way to bond. Thank you.

I think everyone will miss kirby he sparked smiles out of everone on his team and the other team. He took the game seriously but he also goofed around a little and kidded around with his teamates and the other team. GREAT PLAYER and he will be missed all over the country
