My Hotmail is Dead

Like most people, my first foray into email was through hotmail. I had one of the original accounts that was so old it only had a four-digit password. It was great! Unfortunately a combination of spam, as well as the immature address name I had created, caused me to give up on that account as my primary address. However, I did continue to use it for newsletters and signups, and I still had a bunch of emails from people that I had wanted to keep as an archive of my high school years.
Today, I logged into the account just see what was happening and I was astonished to find that everything, I mean everything, had been erased. I was welcomed by a lovely screen saying that my account name, which I have had for nearly 9 years, was reserved for me. How kind of them. Needless to say nothing really important was lost except a couple of sappy high school things…but it really pisses me off that microsoft could be so brazen with my content.
Now I’m more than a little worried about having a gmail account as my primary one, and that my parents are still on hotmail. Maybe it is time to build my email server. Sounds kind of drastic, no?
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Microsoft does sadden me sometimes, when it does abominable things such as what it did to you. That’s why I’m glad that I have my KU e-mail account, as well as my ISP account to use for storage. Call me paranoid, but I don’t trust Yahoo/Gmail/Hotmail and the like. :)
Randomly, do you know where I can buy (or “find” for the taking) a couple of bricks in Lawrence?
