Code Monkey Like You

For all of those friends who are fast approaching the one year anniversary of the “grow-up-and-get-a-real-job” day (graduation day) here is another song brought to you by the always hilarious Jonathan Coulton. While this song is specificly about being a code monkey, I think just about anyone who is punching the clock of adult life can relate to this one.
Also, I think I’ve finally figured out what I like most about Coulton’s songs. It is his sincerity. Whether it is a song about slaving away in a cubicle, Thor inspired IKEA, post-suburban-marital-shop-vac problems, or even a tribute to the easy girl from high school, Coulton manages to make me care about his silly songs. Some how they are able to evoke an emtion that makes me laugh and choke up at the same time. Needless to say they are very cathardic.
Here is Jonathan’s blog post and a link to the song.
P.S. I made my donation to the Coulton cause, have you? You can also find his tracks on iTunes.
P.P.S. He also has a hilarious cover of this Sir Mix-A-Lot classic. While I refuse to display the title of said song, I do remember watching the video when I would sneak over to my neighbors (the keasts) house to watch MTV. Unfortunately it was in heavy rotation back then.

Pretty awesome, I just got my wife listening to his Ikea song the other day. My favorite is still “mandelbrot set”, the best math song ever made
