Classifieds work! Who knew?

As you all know Teressa got a new car a couple of weeks back, and we’ve talking about what is the best way to remove her old volvo from my apartment parking lot. We decided on placing a classified ad in the LJWorld and let us just say that the response was tremendous! Teressa received over a dozen separate calls yesterday about the car, and managed to sell it last night.
Now, I’d like to think that it was the genius classified ad I wrote in my moleskine notebook while running out the door one morning, but it was probably the tremendous value she was selling. However, take a look at the ad and notice what it doesn’t include.
Volvo 1983 240GL. Lovingly restored two summers ago. Tons of new parts, needs new starter & should run perfectly! $600/offer 785-***-****
Notice anything? That’s right, it doesn’t include the color, whether or not it has power locks/windows or AC, the condition of the stereo, or the interior. Why? Because if you are interested in buying a low-cost, older vehicle, you don’t care about any of those features. You’d rather hear about the vehicle’s history, written in very simple terms.
Needless to say, as an ad guy, I am very impressed with the reach of the ljworld’s classified system. Like I said, she received over a dozen calls yesterday, had two potential offers and she got her asking price. Not bad for a 24-hour sale.
Now I just need to look around my apartment to look for more stuff to get rid of. Also, we are heading back to Hutch for the 3-day weekend in order to grab some relaxation with the fam. Hopefully we can get some serious grilling done as well as a look around the Hutchinson farmers market. If anyone is heading back to H-town for the weekend give us a call and we’ll head by the Polo for a drink. Hope everyone enjoys the three day weekend. :)

First of all, love the ad! I would totally be interested in a car if i saw that ad! The phrase “lovingly restored” clinches it!
Second–WARN your readers before you review X3!!!!! I’ve been in the Ozarks all weekend (roughly 40 miles from any theatre, the nearest of which is a drive-in), and my bf went to see it without me! He said it was good, and so did my father, but for some reason, I have a feeling I’m going to side with your opinion more. I miss Singer already! And seriously–where’s Gambit?!
