X3….

May 28th, 2006 | Filed under Reviews

My brother and I went and checked out X3 yesterday afternoon, and long story short the film sucked. The direction sucked, the writing sucked, and honestly some of the art direction sucked. Steve and I looked at each other after we walked out of the movie and both pretty much summed up the flick with…”who cares.” It just wasn’t very entertaining. It might as well have been the Logan/Jean story…because that is the only thing in the film of any consequence. The cast, surprisingly, was great but they just got stuck with poor material. Hopefully Superman will redeem comic book movies for this summer.

If theatre owners are wondering why ticket sales are down they need to look no further than Hutch’s very own Dickinson Theaters. Throughout the entire film there was a noticeable flicker/flutter to the film, that would have probably been the result of not enough tension on the film. I alerted the staff to the problem and they said that it would be taken care of…it wasn’t. Needless to say it was incredibly distracting and actually took away from any of the emotional or slower moments of the film. Oh, and they forgot to turn the DTS surround sound on, so there was a very noticeable hum present throughout the soundtrack. I guess this is what happens when you don’t have great theatre employees like Rumback, Shane, Adams or myself (we all used to work there). Enjoy your weekend, and if you are going to see a film skip out on X3.

p.s. I’ll try to post more about the weekend soon. I took a ton of great pics of Hank the dog yesterday and I’ll probably post ‘em tonight, but right now I’ve got to go BBQ some chicken.

Update: I changed the headline at Lennea‘s request realizing that if people were attempting to stay away from reviews before they see it my headline was ruining it for them. Thanks for pointing that out!
