Awkward Craigslist Entry

July 27th, 2006 | Filed under Random

I just saw this very, very disturbing and awkward ad in the Craigslist RSS feed for tv/film gigs in KC.

“Take photos and/or videos of car accidents. Material is used by safety organizations and automobile manufacturers for safety and crash studies. You take the photos and/or video and keep it. You relay pertinent info to our office. We will find the appropriate buyer and contact you when a sale is pending. At that time, we pay you for the photos and/or video and you send the material to our office. Compensation from $40 to $200 per accident. You must live within the city limits of Kansas City, Missouri.” -Craigslist Entry

I sort of understand that they are looking for information about car crashes…but who wants to be photographed for filmed after having an accident. This is just weird…and a little wrong in that it takes advantage of peoples misfortune. It was just too bizarre not to post it.

That’s disturbing. I have a camera (which I *love*), but I think that Americans need some lessons in photo etiquette. Taking a picture of another’s car accident in order to profit from their tragedy is despicable. What if they had been injured?

This conjures up images of Princess Diana’s death, and how the papparazzi took pictures of her as she lay dying, rather than attempt to help her.
