I’m the big winner.

October 11th, 2006 | Filed under Apple, Blog

We just purchased (via ebay) a refurbished G3 iMac for the gf’s mom in order to get her online and surfing the web. I love this old iMac…it is honestly one of the best computers ever made. We still have one at the office running as a test machine. Sweet, sweet Jon Ive design.

If you feel so inclined leave a comment about your favorite computer. Mine? My first laptop/mac, a powerbook G3, which by the way still serves my parents just fine. Macs never die, they just get passed onto someone else. :)

I beg to differ. Our Apple IIe died long, long ago. And the joystick sucked. :P

Yeah, but notice I said “macs” not “apples.” A simple, yet often overlooked distinction. And besides your IIe had to be like 20 years old! They came out in the 70s, and sure could have bought a newer one in the 80s but come on….tell the truth it was old! :)

Was not you big computer snob! It’s not my fault that my computer is nothing more than a glorified word processor. Cutting edge technology in my house means a stereo that only skips the CDs if you’ve had it on for more than an hour. Which, come to think of it, I bought off of you.

  4. Matthew Kappenman Says:

    LOL :)

Come to think of it that CD player is almost 10 years old. Cut it some slack, it works just fine for a 10-year-old CD player. Gah.

I feel like I’m getting in the middle of some personal squabble here, but I just wanted to say that I love my new MacBook–it’s teh best machine I’ve ever bought.

  6. JiM Says:

And Matt, I can’t believe you bought such a bitchin’ computer for 80 bucks. I’m going shopping.

  7. Matthew Kappenman Says:

Jim, I got the machine all set up now and it is running Tiger (10.4.8) pretty darn well. It lags a little when you try to run more than one app, but that is to be expected considering the amount of Ram the machine has.

I’m so jealous about the Macbook…I’m hoping to pick one up in the next couple of months…they are such pretty (and fast) machines. :)
