An Open Letter to Z’s Downtown/Espresso

Dear “good” coffee shops/wifi spots of lawrence, and by that I’m mean you Z’s.

Stay open later in the summer! I need a place to drink coffee, look intelligent, act pretentious and blog my extremely creative and insightful thoughts from. Seriously. Please?

In case you hadn’t heard…

In case you hadn’t heard…the iPhone comes out today. It makes me smile as everyone thought I was a complete wacko for buying my first powerbook seven years ago, and here Apple is, the media darling of old, on the verge of the greatest consumer electronics launch of all time. It feels good to be right for so long, and to see the rest of the world begin to catch up. Oh, and did I mention that the powerbook still works and my brother uses it as a mobile supplement to his iMac? How many “other” machines do you know that can still do that?

Anyway, I’ll be stopping by the at&t store in Lawrence tonight to check out the pandemonium and hopefully take some pics. I’ll post ‘em here and on the LAUG blog for all to see. And to all those who are wondering whether or not I will be purchasing one, the answer is yes…just not yet. I need to buy a car first ;)

p.s. And to Wes if he reads this, you were right when you got your iMac. I was wrong ;)

Update: The Lawrence Journal World has posted a story about the upcoming iPhone fever in Lawrence. They interviewed Brian Best, of Best Macs, a good friend to the LAUG and all around great guy. Looks like Brian’s expecting a line in town, should be fun. Hey, Brian stay in Lawrence and we’ll see you tonight!

Update 2: We didn’t make it down to the at&t store, instead we went to see Ratatouille, review coming soon.

Faith’s been hijacked

I’ve gotten out of the habit of posting lately as life at work has recently jumped into high gear. We are almost done with production on a new project and are about to move into post for the next 7 months…mmm I love post.

Anyway, I wanted to throw up this post dealing with a speech Obama gave on Sunday. Here is a snippet:

“But somehow, somewhere along the way, faith stopped being used to bring us together. Faith started being used to drive us apart. Faith got hijacked.” -Sen. Barack Obama

Oddly enough, Teressa and I were having this exact same discussion in car on Sunday…coincidence, I think not.
