Leopard, have you heard of it?
So I’m finally getting around to prepping for the eventual upgrade to Leopard on the home machine. I’ve been compiling a todo list of apps that must function, as well as work-arounds for those that do not. In some instances that is creating much more robust and elegant solutions, so I’m somewhat glad I’ll be forced to re-think how I set things up.
Also, I’ve become tech support for the clan that is Teressa and my immediate families. Luckily we’ve managed to convert everyone over to a Mac, which has made my life SO much easier. But now that both her parents, my parents, her aunt and uncle and assorted siblings are all running on Macs, some of which will make the jump to Leopard while others won’t….I can’t be as cavalier as I once was when it comes to upgrades. Why is that everyday that passes I become more responsible…I miss the days of reckless abandon when it came to computers…installing an OS the day it came out…ah the good ol’ days. ;)
Presently, the only app I’m truly “waiting” on for the upgrade on the home side of things is “Super Duper.” Once my favorite backup app is up and running we’ll be off to the next generation races.
My machine at the office is another story. I really don’t think I’m going to upgrade it until after the new year. Too many deadlines, too much incompatible (or upgrade required) software to really justify moving on up. I have installed it on a spare Macbook and it’s very pretty and has me chomping at the bit to bring every machine in the office up to speed. If only for the ease of use in screen sharing and connecting to remote volumes. Oh the trails and tribulations of a geek.
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving, and hopefully I can get in the habit of posting more as deadlines come to a close.
