Radiolab Podcast
If you’re not listening to WYNC’s Radiolab podcast you are missing out on the greatest hour of radio there ever was…Period. Exclamation point.
Seriously though, I like it even more than This American Life and that’s one excellent show.
This has been your Public Service announcement for today.
p.s. No, it’s not some stupid tech show…it’s a science/real life show. Emily, you should definitely check it out.

Hey, thanks for the tip, Matt. I just finished listening to the one on zoos; most of the info I already knew, but was still interesting to listen to. The director of the zoo where I did my master’s research and who sat on my committee actually is now heads up most of the jaguar research they talk about in the last segment of that episode so I know a lot about that research. Instead of actually capturing jaguars like they used to do to get population estimates, they now utilize “camera traps”- cameras that are motion sensitive and capture images of jaguars in the territory.
And the segment on whether to feed live animals to zoo animals is something I’ve dealt with in the past when designing enrichment for animals. We gave live fish (that I caught in the pond!) to bears and pumas and visitors seemed okay with that since they were just fish. People have a bigger problem when you want to feed the animals anything fuzzy. :)
It looks like this program covers a lot of interesting topics; i hope to listen to more in the coming days. Hope to see you in Hutch over the holidays!
