Hutchinson Weekends
Saturday afternoon before the KU game, with the parents taking a nap, I decided to take good ol’ Hank out for some picture taking practice. I haven’t quite hit the a sweet spot when it comes to high speed photography with the camera, so I figured Hank running circles around me in my parent’s backyard would be a good test.
After about an hour of bad shots, and a few HDR tests, I snapped the one above while he waited for Mom and a friend to take him out on a walk. What can I say the guy loves to survey his kingdom.
The photo below is a shot of what is left our the gutter system on the garage. Driving into town Friday night, the whole place still looks like a war zone after the recent ice-storm. The city is slowly cleaning up all the brush that is pilled up on everyone’s front lawn with the help of a few contractors, but it is a massive undertaking. Apparently it was so bad that Hutch received FEMA aid to help with the clean up. My dad and I alone took 5 trips to the dump last time I was home to clear all the brush out of their yard, now this bit of pipe is all that’s left. Mother nature is a harsh mistress.
Also it’s the first time I’ve taken our new 28-70 Mark II lens outside for a run through. So far I like it, it’s a little soft on contrast but that’s something I can usually make up for in Aperture. I can’t wait to take it on our trip to Seattle next month. I’m already budgeting in a couple new memory cards for the trip.
